Description of services...

Redevelopment of the historic McMillan Slow Sand Filtration Site into a 6 acre public park and 19,000 gsf recreation center. This design-build effort included stabilization and demolition of existing filtration vaults, extensive site work, rehabilitation of existing historic assets, fabulous site improvements, and a gleaming new recreation and aquatic center.

Situated on approximately 25 acres, the McMillan Sand Filtration Site served as the city’s water purification system which relied on sand rather than chemicals from 1905 – 1986.  Designed by Fredrick Law Olmstead, it was built as part of the historic McMillan Reservoir Park.  It is now undergoing a total site redevelopment including housing, shopping, dining, and office, while restoring and maintaining the historic above ground structures. The city has maintained ownership of approximately 6.25 acres which has been transformed into a city park and community center set to open in Summer 2024.
